Acupuncture & TCM

Traditional Chinese Medicine includes acupuncture, cupping, moxibustion, herbal supplementation, electrical stimulation, qigong energy treatment and exercises as well as education regarding lifestyle, diet and environmental factors.

Acupuncture is a health science developed over 5,000 years ago with many innovative additions and styles in recent years. Stimulation of various points clears blockages, builds energy and harmonizes imbalances. It is recognized by the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the World Health Organization (WHO) as effective in the treatment of a wide range of medical ailments. For those uncomfortable with needle insertion, treatment with “energy” needles or Japanese Tokohari surface stimulation is also possible.

TCM encompasses a deep understanding of balance: internal/external, heat/cold, yin/yang, five elements theory and the organ/meridian systems. Clarity of diagnosis is important for the choice of treatment, especially in regard to herbal formulas. For that reason Alan uses multiple diagnostic systems. TCM encompasses and integrates the physical, psychological and energetic realms; similar to other modalities also described here.

Alan has been practicing 26 years and maintains California, Oregon and National acupuncture licenses. His knowledge addresses many modalities and conditions.
